Ron Church
Ron Church was a remarkable, gifted individual that loved the sea. He was an accomplished diver, deep submersible pilot and one of the best underwater photographers in the world.

His involvement in surfing as a participant and photographer is legendary. Some of his surfing photos are classics.

He was Pilot of three deep submersibles: the Cousteau Diving Saucer, the Westinghouse Deepstar 4000, and the Cousteau Sea Flea. In addition to his skilled piloting abilities, Ron shot some incredible still photos and cinematography from these deep submersibles.

Ron Church was best known for his photography. His talents in still photography and cinematography took him to the heights in high-flying test aircraft, land photography and underwater photography. His award-winning underwater photo work included diving and deep submersibles. He was the first American photographer with the Cousteau Team.

He also shared his knowledge and experience through hundreds of articles, several books, conferences, seminars, workshops and courses in underwater photography. Next to filming, teaching was his next greatest love.

Although his life was cut short by a brain tumor, he accomplished more quality achievements in his 20-year professional career than most people do in several lifetimes.

Many of Ron Church’s underwater photos are available from Blue Ocean Art. The B&W surf images are available through the Scott Nichols Gallery. For information on upcoming exhibits go to http://www.ronchurch.com.
