The Chumash Maritime Association invites you to join them in celebrating the return of their sacred tomol canoe to their ancestral home of Limuw, or, as we now know it, Santa Cruz Island of California's Channel Islands.
This short film follows the brave men and women of the CMA as they prepare for the long and arduous journey across miles of angry Pacific in the traditional watercraft of their tribe, the Chumash. The tomol was once built by the Chumash using stone tools and redwood trees which floated down the coast to their islands off California's south coast. Witness the pride and profound joy of a people coming home.
